The hotel stands out for its flexible and multifunctional environments and for its great connectivity with technology and music.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - As a unique proposal and an innovative promise, the Aloft brand opened at El Distrito, said Federico Stubbe Jr., president of PRISA Group, developer of El Distrito , the premiere entertainment center of Puerto Rico, which will soon open at the San Juan Convention District.
"We are proud to announce the opening of the first Aloft hotel in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Aloft San Juan is one of the anchor properties of El Distrito and the first to open in what will be a unique and revolutionary project in its entertainment offer in the region. Its modern and avant-garde design, and its vibrant social environment, add variety to the local hotel offer, as it is designed to meet the new generation of travelers,” Stubbe said. The executive added that the opening of Aloft represents the opening of the first phase of El Distrito. "This inauguration is only the first of many, as we will be opening this large-scale project in stages." The executive said that the first event in the long-awaited Coca-Cola Music Hall is scheduled for March 20 th.
Stubbe stressed that the hotel is a very attractive one for millennials, a segment that likes to travel and live unique experiences such as those that will be found at El Distrito, the innovative project that is built in the Conventions District area with an investment of $ 175 million. Aloft San Juan, one of the main components of El Distrito and built at a cost of over $50 million, introduces a meeting place with an urban and fashionable spirit, making it an ideal destination not only for visitors, but also for locals. The property has 177 loft-style rooms, distributed over seven floors with a variety of open spaces full of activity and with the most modern and innovative technology.
“Aloft will be the hotel for cool people looking for a good vibe, all integrated into the fun atmosphere that El Distrito will offer. In addition, it is the perfect place to have a drink and socialize before going to dinner or dance in El Distrito,” added the developer.
Toni Stoeckl, Global Brand Leader, Aloft Hotels and Vice President, Distinctive Select Brands for Marriott International stated, “We are changing Puerto Rico's hospitality landscape as the only hotel located within San Juan’s premiere entertainment destination, El Distrito , and the first Aloft hotel on the island. With 135 hotels Aloft hotels in the signed pipeline expected to open in North America, Asia Pacific, The Caribbean & Latin America, The Middle East & Africa, and Europe, we are proud of the global growth and demand of our design-driven Aloft brand.”
For his part, Christian Nieves, general manager of Aloft San Juan, said that “following the identity of Aloft Hotels worldwide, we wanted to bring an innovative proposal to Puerto Rico, which provides a comprehensive experience. We have combined our cultural and entertainment options in the same space”.
Aloft San Juan is presented as a promoter of Puerto Rican art and a clear example is the Live at Aloft Hotels sessions, the brand's international program, in which various emerging bands will perform concerts at the hotel's Re: mix℠ Lounge. The Aloft brand brings its W XYZ® Bar to San Juan, a bar integrated within the lobby with a modern and open concept environment, which can be used for work and networking. At night, it will turn into an entertainment center with perfect spaces to relax, enjoy a live band, have a drink and socialize.
“The current lifestyle demands that some services be flexible, modern and technological. To achieve a comprehensive experience, the Aloft brand also provides practical solutions for its guests,” explained its general manager. Among them:
The Re: fuel by Aloft℠ is a Grab & Go 24/7 space with healthy and light homemade gourmet products such as hot or cold sandwiches, coffee assortment and other snacks, presented in eco-friendly containers ready at any time of the day.
Aloft knows that there is no specific schedule to relax or train. That is why it created Re: charge℠, a 24-hour gym, every day of the week for guests. There is also Splash, a contemporary-style pool located on the third level of the hotel and offering fantastic panoramic views of the Convention Center and its fountains, and the San Juan Bay. Its fun and sophisticated details with the modern design graces from the deck to the terrace furniture, invites guests to relax in an ample and comfortable space.
Aloft San Juan provides its customers with 3,500 feet of flexible meeting spaces equipped with visual audio systems that include LCD projectors, projection screens and basic sound system ideal for corporate meetings, workshops and conferences. Similarly, open spaces and terraces overlooking the fountains of the Convention Center create the ideal environment for social events such as cocktails and weddings.
Aloft Hotels was among the first in the entire hotel industry to forget about keys and cards, to replace them with the use of its guests' smartphones. This technology allows Aloft’s guests to enter their reservation and check-in through an App, available for Android and iOS devices. This service is available even before arriving at the hotel facilities. Mobile Key allows guests to obtain a digital key with which they will only need to bring their mobile device closer to the door reader to open their room automatically and start enjoying the best of their stay. Marriott Bonvoy members can also use the Marriott Bonvoy app on their smartphone or Apple Watch as their room key.
Having entertainment options for children is a very important detail for all families with children. Therefore, Aloft has the ‘Camp Aloft’ program which allows to order and place a tent and special mattress in the room so that the pampered kids of the house, between the ages of 2 and 12, can camp in the bedroom with their parents.
And, since pets are also part of the family, Aloft San Juan is a pet friendly hotel, and its Arf (Animals Are Fun) program allows guests to stay with their dogs, up to 40 pounds in weight. Pets will have beds, bowl, cookies and canine toys; making it a hotel for everyone.
“We recognize that, with the integration of this new entertainment variable, our offer as a destination for groups and conventions transcends a novel and complete one. With this development we express our ability to attract both local and international groups and ensure an experience that reflects our unique cultural personality, just steps from the Convention Center,” said Noelia García Bardales, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Convention District.
Aloft San Juan arrives in Puerto Rico as part of the expansion and growth of PRISA Group with Caribe Hospitality and managed by Marriott International. The hotel is located in the heart of the Convention District, as well as a few minutes from the historic Old San Juan area and the Condado beaches.
